A valle del notevole successo commerciale riscosso con i dischi esterni da 2.5-inch dedicati al mercato business, Toshiba Digital Products Division (DPD), una divisione di Toshiba America Information Systems, ha annunciato l'ampliamento della sua offerta dal punto di viste delle device di storage esterne con una nuova linea di HDD da 3.5-inch, che il maker ha dimensionato per rispondere sia alle esigenze dell'utenza consumer che di quella enterprise.

Tra le feature dei dischi messe in primo piano dal produttore segnaliamo la doppia possiblità di connessione con l'host, attraverso USB 2.0 e eSATA, e il software proprietario per la gestione e la protezione dei dati memorizzati. I drive includono al loro interno un hard drive SATA che ruota a 5400RPM e un bridge USB-to-SATA.

Al momento la gamma è composta da due HDD, utilizzabili sia in ambito PC che Mac: l'MSRP della versione con capacità di 640GB è pari a $129.99 mentre la variante con capacità di 1TB costa $159.99.
